Barbara Bradford

Barbara Griffith Bradford, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 2nd surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of Robert H. Bradford and is survived by her children Robert G. Bradford (Lil), Gary A. Bradford (Debbi), Anne Lynn Langloh (Drew), and Timothy M. Bradford (Casey). She was a loving grandmother to Robert Jr., Giles, Emily, Timmy, Jack, Maggie, Thomas, Tim and Will, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

The only child of Merritt Hayes Griffith and Elizabeth Agnes McKeown, Barbara was born in Chester and grew up in Fisher’s Corner, Delaware County. She was a proud graduate of Chester High School, where she earned top academic honors and participated in numerous clubs as well as the marching band, where her spirit and leadership shone brightly. She was pursuing a career with The Bell Telephone Company, when she met the love of her life, married, and settled down to raise a family. It was then that she found her greatest calling – to be a mother. She did it with grace and goodness and earnestly modeled for her children how to live a life of warmth, curiosity, and love.

Despite her busy life with four children, she found time to pursue her favorite hobbies of cross-stitching, gardening, and cooking and to volunteer for the Tredyffrin/Easttown school district and St. David’s Episcopal Church. Barbara was also an enthusiastic fan of Penn State football and the Philadelphia Phillies (and tailgates with hoagies and Herrs). She was an avid student of U.S. history, and a lover of classic television comedies, which she enjoyed for their timeless humor and charm.

Those who knew Barbara will remember her quick wit, incredible memory, caring heart, and deep devotion to her family. Her legacy of love, laughter, and learning will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

Visitation for Barbara will take place at 9AM on November 15, at Resurrection Episcopal Church, Rockdale, 2131 Mount Rd, Aston Township, PA 19014. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 10AM. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

I was so sorry to read the sad news about your wonderful mother this morning. I have such fond memories of her — from babysitting the adorable Bradford kids on Tenby Road … to the lovely bridesmaids luncheon she hosted when I got married … and all the way to our phone conversations in recent years. I will miss her. I hope your memories of your beautiful mother will bring you much comfort.
