Anna C. Bove

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of our dearest mother Anne Bové. Anne passed away peacefully on November 10th, 2018 at Forwood Manor Comfort and Care Living Facility. Anne’s life of 86 years was overflowing with love and family, and she will be honored in our memory as fully as she will be missed.

Anne was a devoted wife of 60 years to the love of her life the late Daniel Michael Bové. Alongside Dan, Anne was a devoted mother to six beautiful children, Michael Bové, Nancy Corr, Mary Sue Fierro, Jane Younger, Martha and Christopher Bové. She is also remembered as a regal and affectionate “Grandmother” to her thirteen grandchildren, Danielle Bové, Annie, Dylan and Patti Jo Corr, Vincent and Olivia Fierro, Jessica, Amy and Cole Younger, Noah and Jake Hannum, Alex and Madison Bové. In her final days Anne earned the honor of being a Great-Grandmother as her first grandchild, Danielle gave birth to a beautiful baby boy- Miles Michael Bialecki. Mom also held a special place in her heart for her son and daughter-in-laws: Suzie Bové, Edgar Corr, Jay Fierro, Christopher Younger and Kimberly Bové. They were as much her family as her own children.

Anne found great joy in the beach, especially her yearly trips to Stone Harbor beach with her family, a garden full of flowers, the colors yellow and blue, chocolate to satisfy her sweet tooth, and a fuzzy companion at her feet to keep her toes warm. Even stronger than her undeniable beauty was her sharp wit that remained with her until the very end. She could famously deliver her trademark one-liners, and would effortlessly bring humor to any situation.

Anne was one of four children born in Wilmington, Delaware to Archibald and Grace Bullock. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1950 and would later work for the DuPont Company as a secretary where she would catch the admiring eye of Daniel Bovè. She was a talented athlete, and fiercely competitive. She loved softball and basketball as a young girl, and later loved tennis and golf. Her friends can attest that if Anne was on your team- you were sure to win. Anne was as strong and steady in the face of adversity as we would all like to imagine we might be one day.

In her life, Anne was an ultimate source of care and comfort to the ones she loved. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word. There was never an occasion, special or ordinary, where she didn’t create beautiful memories. From her laborious handmade Easter outfits to a simple pitcher of lemonade after school, every effort was always filled with love. She was a curator of fabulous food and decor and our beloved Matriarch of the extended Bové family. More than just taking care of the house, she could make any day feel more special with her presence alone, and her tireless efforts of keeping her family safe and happy.

Anne’s family would like to especially thank Dr. James Fierro for his many years of medical guidance, patience and compassion towards his mother-in-law as he provided Mom with a life-time of care. A further thank you to the efforts of Mom’s caregivers at Forwood Manor for providing the attention to her well-being and comfort at the end of her life. We are so grateful that you too saw the special person Anne was to us.

Funeral and graveside services were private. We are all honored to hold such a prestigious woman in our hearts and memory.

I played tennis with Ann many years ago, and always enjoyed being with her. She was just lovely, and so nice and sweet to everyone, although she could hold her own on the court. Have thought about her many times, since, and wondered how she was. So sorry for your loss. The obituary was just lovely.

We have many beautiful and joy filled memories of times together beginning in Parkwood. Anne' s smile will still with us always. As the Greeks say in funeral services, "May her memory be eternal." I am so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was such a nice person. My contact with her was mostly at the Bridge Table where we had good times. No matter if the cards were good or bad. Missed her when they moved and had no address but still thought of her often. She will be missed by many.
