Angelo Giudici

Angelo Giudici Jr., 91, of Newark, DE, formerly of Dover, DE died on the 25th of December 2021 under the compassionate care of his hospice team at Regal Heights nursing home.  He had been cared for at home by “Angelo’s Angels,” his Heartland Hospice nurses and his dear friend Frank Schauber, for the past year, preceding his final days.

Angelo, beloved son of the late Angel and Sara (neé McGinnis) Giudici of Philadelphia, PA, attended John Bartram High School, and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951.  He dedicated his career to serving in the armed forces.  He retired from the USAF at the rank of Master Sergeant following deployment to serve during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, and finished his career as a mechanics instructor to enlisted airmen, giving 21 years of active duty.  Throughout his military career, Angelo was married to Shirley McQuay and they raised four children together, living on-Base in several states and the Philippines.  He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and son, who was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Barbara Friedrich and older sister, Sara Mae Warner.  He is survived by his brother, Louis Giudici, sister, Dianne Pearce, three children, Janet Enslen, Susan Giudici, and Angelo Giucidi III, as well as his six grandchildren, Elizabeth Grisé, Megan (Ryan) Myers, Lauren (John-Paul) Kaplan, Kathryn Enslen, Sara (Nathan) Brooks, and Eric (Brooke) Enslen.  Angelo is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

Angelo loved nothing more than receiving calls from his grandchildren, spending time with friends at the Dover Senior Center (where he was known for proudly showing off his grandchildren during visits), and drinking coffee with good company.  Angelo had a wonderful sense of humor, and he always knew how to make those closest to him have a good laugh.  He was known as Bross to his siblings, and deeply loved by all who got to know him.

A celebration of his life will be held in the spring followed by interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.  In lieu of flowers, Angelo’s family suggests donations in his honor be made to: the Air Force Aid Society at https://afas.org, the Military Veteran’s Project at https://www.militaryveteranproject.org/22aday-movement, or the Gary Sinise Foundation at https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/donate/

Condolences

Ron Wilson lit a candle and writes,
I’m so sorry for your family’s loss of a truly loving brother, father, grandfather & great grandfather. I got to know Angelo thru delivering meals via Meals on Wheels. We would usually chat for a bit and I saw him as a friend. A couple weeks before he passed we had talked about going to lunch one day. I had spoke to Angelo earlier on the day he had taken ill about having that lunch later that week. I was so sorry to hear from his son of his passing. May my friend Rest In Peace 🙏
