Alfred “Tuck” LaSorte

Alfred “Tuck” LaSorte, 91, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday the 25th of April at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in 1925, Tuck was a lifelong resident of Wilmington. After graduating from Wilmington High School in 1943, he enlisted in the Navy, serving his country honorably as a radioman on torpedo bombers stationed aboard the USS Cowpens in the South Pacific. Tuck was justifiably proud to have been among the first Americans to land in Japan upon its surrender in 1945.

Tuck had a long career as a television and electronics technician, first with the Willard S. Wilson Company in Wilmington, then with his own company LaSorte TV Service. After retiring from TV repair he worked part time with the Everfast Corporation for many years. An avid golfer, Tuck is fondly remembered by his many friends at the DuPont Country Club, where he worked for almost two decades as a starter, finally fully retiring from the club in 2014 at the age of 89.

Tuck was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen. He is survived by his four sons Joseph LaSorte (Lisa) of Centreville, Alfred LaSorte (Deborah) of West Palm Beach, FL, Michael LaSorte of Scottsdale, AZ and David LaSorte of San Diego, CA, grandchildren Andrew LaSorte and Alexandra LaSorte, and step-grandchildren Michael Kennedy and William, Erin and Holly Gleason.
