William E. Culver

William E. Culver, 90, of Glen Mills, PA passed away on March 30th. He was born in July of 1932, the son of Paul and Evelyn (Elliott) Culver.

He was a 1950 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School. After service in the army during the Korean War, he attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.

He was employed by Hercules, Inc. in both the Engineering and Controllers Departments. He retired in 1989 and was then employed by Himont, Inc. in the Controllers Department, retiring in 1994.

After retirement, he and his wife, Shirley, moved to their home in Ocean City, NJ. After living there for 10 years they moved to Del Webbs Spruce Creek Country Club in Summerfield, Florida. After living there for 10 years they moved to Maris Grove Retirement Community in Glen Mills, PA.

Bill was an avid golfer, and formerly belonged to the Hercules, Avalon (NJ) and Spruce Creek (FL) Country Clubs. He was very proud of shooting two holes-in-one. Additionally, he loved watching all sports, especially golf and football, and was well versed in sports trivia. Over the years he often volunteered as president of various golf and bocce leagues. He loved being a grandfather and spending time at the beach with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley C. Culver and his sister Susan C. Gohn. He is survived by his daughter, Christy Culver DiGilio (Russell) of Edgewater, Maryland and his son Craig William Culver (Donna) of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by granddaughters Allie Wagner (Matthew), Cara DiGilio, Emma DiGilio, Carly Culver, grandson Connor Culver and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Penn Oaks Golf Club, 150 Penn Oaks Drive, West Chester, PA on Saturday, April 15 at 11:30am.
