Harry N. Monck, III

Harry N. Monck, III passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 surrounded by his family.
A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Harry was the son of the late Harry and Gertrude (Garyantes) Monck. He attended St. Paul’s school and Wilmington High School, and was a graduate of the University of Delaware. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War, and upon his return from service, joined Hercules Inc. After a 41 year career, he retired as technical Director for Resins sales.
Upon retirement, he immersed himself in volunteer work, particularly in the area of environmental issues. In 2009 he was the recipient of the Jefferson Award in recognition of his volunteer service. He was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Church for more than 50 years where he was a volunteer and a member of the Parish Council.
In addition to his parents, Harry is predeceased by his sister Mary Boyle and his son Christopher. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Flora (DeCecco), his sons Harry (Pam) and Jonathan, his grandson Harry (Hal), his granddaughter Margaret (Maggie), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Michael Marroni, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country.
We, his family, would like to express our deep gratitude for the care given to him in his final days by his extraordinary caregiver, Angela, and the compassionate and competent staff at Seasons Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Harry’s name to St. Mary Magdalen Church.
