Raymond F. Sprague, age 72, of Hockessin, Delaware died from kidney cancer after a brief illness on October 17th in his home surrounded by family.
Ray graduated from Wilmington High School in 1967. He was a devoted employee at Hercules, Inc. for 37 years, first as a chemical operator and later as a boiler operator. In Ray’s earlier years he enjoyed boating, fishing, and taking the train with his sister Judy to visit relatives in Long Island NY. He was a frequent visitor at Delaware Park where you could often find him at the Spanish 21 or black jack table. He was an avid movie watcher who loved spending time with his family and friends where you could talk to him for hours but it would feel as if no time had passed.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Olive Sprague and his sister Judy Sobonya.
Ray is survived by his brother-in-law through marriage Frank Sobonya (Jean), his three nieces Jessica Sobonya of Blue Bell, PA; Jennifer Poulsen (Ryan) of Wilmington, DE; and Christina Hugo (Taylor) of Wilmington DE; and his great nieces: Layla Hugo, Lillian Poulsen; and great nephew, Ethan Hugo.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 10-11:00 am at Chandler Funeral Home 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11am at Chandler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
