Paul W. Lutton

Paul Wayne Lutton, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, in Wilmington, Delaware. Born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Paul grew up locally and graduated from Upper Darby High School. Following graduation, he proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force.

His distinguished 20-year military career took him across the globe, with assignments in Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Taipei, Alaska, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Nebraska, before he eventually settled in Columbus, Ohio. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Paul transitioned to a career as a life insurance agent for John Hancock, where he dedicated himself until his second retirement.

In 1987, Paul and his beloved wife, Carol, moved back to Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Never one to stay idle, Paul drove for Devon Prep School and loved spending his mornings catching up with his pals at the local coffee shop. Faith and community were central to Paul’s life; both he and Carol were deeply involved in CHVRCH Newtown Square, where Paul proudly served as a board member.

Paul was also a lifelong athlete and an avid sports fan, having played baseball and basketball during his school days. His enduring passion for sports spanned baseball, football, basketball, and nearly every game in between. He rarely missed a matchup, and his legendary memory for sports statistics could easily rival the best professional broadcasters.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen (née Hagelstein) Lutton, and his cherished wife of many years, Carol (née Dulaney). He is survived by his devoted sons, Allen of Columbus, Ohio, and Paul William (Pamela) of Wilmington, Delaware. He was the proud grandfather of Joe (Melanie), Eric, Carol Loring (Rick), Tiffany, Kassidy Raver (Jonathan), and Jamee, all of Columbus, Ohio, as well as Alex and Katie of Tacoma, Washington. Paul also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at CHVRCH Newtown Square, 3722 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
