Angela Maria Paidas

Angela Maria (Mariano) Paidas, affectionately known as Angie, 94, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026.

Born on June 30, 1932, in Stamford, CT, Angie was the daughter of the late John and Domenica (Covino) Mariano. Raised on Stamford’s West Side, she graduated from Stamford High School in 1950. On April 18, 1953, she married the love of her life, Nicholas Paidas, the beginning of a beautiful 67-year marriage devoted to family and one another.

Angie and Nick made their home in Stamford before moving to Danbury, CT in 1977 and then to Madison, CT in 2009. In 2019, they relocated to Coral Gables, Florida, a fitting final chapter for a couple who had honeymooned in Miami more than six decades earlier. There, they enjoyed their remaining years until Nick’s passing on September 23, 2020.

Known for her remarkable work ethic and dedication, Angie spent more than two decades at Froehlich Transportation Inc., a Stamford trucking company, before joining Tower Realty in 1983. For the next 25 years, she was the heart of Tower Realty, serving as a personal secretary, bookkeeper, notary public and trusted confidante. More than a colleague, Angie was the beloved matriarch of the office. She considered both workplaces second homes and held the lasting bonds she formed there near and dear.

Angie spent most weekday evenings after work helping Nick behind the counter at New Fairfield’s Fairwood Wines and Liquors, the family business. All customers looked forward to seeing her.

A longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford and a member of its Rosary Altar Society, Angie lived a faith-filled life, which she instilled in her loved ones.

Above all, Angie’s greatest joy was her family, especially her treasured role as grandmother and great-grandmother. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved, often in her favorite place: the kitchen. An extraordinary cook and baker, Angie had a gift for bringing everyone together around the table, always making sure no one left her home hungry. Her famous Farina cake, homemade pizzelles, Anginettes, chocolate chip cookies, chicken piccata, penne a la vodka, Ritz cracker-stuffed shrimp, and mashed potatoes, will forever be everyone’s favorites.

A lifelong, devoted New York Yankees fan, Angie (and Aunt Betsy) rarely missed a game. In fact, she was ranked in the top 0.1% of baseball game viewers on the Major League Baseball channel. A wonderful listener with a generous heart, Angie was someone family and friends could always turn to. She was also a talented seamstress with the perfect stitch. She always had the most beautifully manicured nails that were admired often. Shopping was one of Angie’s favorite pastimes, especially with her grandchildren. She treasured the companionship of her darling dog, Duke. She loved to end the day with a baseball game, the sitcom “Friends” or a rom-com movie with her family while eating ice cream sundaes. In later years, Angie loved reading and building puzzles.

She is survived by her two beloved sons, Charles, MD (Marianne, née Belsole) and Michael, MD (Anne Marie, née Vanasse); five grandchildren, Nina (Patrick), John, Adrianna (Jack), Nicholas (Jessica), and Lauren (Chris); and three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Charley Grace, and Alessandra.

She is also survived by her nieces, Christalene Skoumbros, Marian Skoumbros, and Donna Musilli (Diego; née Mariano); nephews, Michael Skoumbros (Nancy), John Mariano III (Karen), Fred Mariano Jr. (Barbara), Raymond Mariano, and Ed Carella (Kathy); her nephew’s wife, Audrey Carella; and cousins, Angelo Covino and Antoinette Faugno.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Sr. and Domenica Mariano; her sister, Ventura (Gerardo); her brothers, Jerry, John Jr. (Gloria), Fred (Betsy), and Michael; her nephews, Jerry Carella, Louis Carella (Alice), and Mickey Carella; and her cousins’ spouses, Maria Covino and Ricky Faugno, along with many dear relatives in Stamford and Avellino, Italy.

Angie’s greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind generations of loved ones who will forever cherish her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.
