Alicia (Candy) Long

Alicia (Candy) Long, age 85, Chadds Ford, PA, passed away on Sunday October 18, 2026, with her family by her side.

Our Beautiful Mom has left us.  She was born in Baltimore MD to her mother Marie T. Mullen (nee Diamond) and husband, she was raised in Philadelphia. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years Richard A. Long, brother-in-Law Greg Shadel, brother-in-law Phillip Freiler, brother-in-Law Paul Long.

She was known for her intelligence, stories and laugh, a tenacious, tough and tender Philly girl, her generosity and humanity, best apple pie maker, cozy Homemaker, A lover of public libraries and devourer of books also an advocate that books are your friends and should be treated as such, A champion of family and blood is thicker than water, a realist, a romantic, a gardener, a decorator, a crafter, a lover of all things Marvel, DC and Lucas, a lover of movies, PBS, AcornTV and BBC. A world traveler and lover of all things adorable including but not limited to teddy bears, babies, kids and family.  A beloved Wife, Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and daughter.

Alicia is survived by her children Susan Long, Annette Long, Richard P. Long (Sharon), sister Linda Shadel, sister-in-law Rita Freiler, sister-in-law Evelyn Long, her grandchildren Dr. Lauren Long Geissler (Dr. Joseph), SFC Thomas Smith, U.S. Army (Brit’ney), Patrick Kline, Richard A. Long, Samuel Long, and her great grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Cadence Smith, Cody Smith, Kinslee Smith, Ellington Geissler and Remington Geissler.
