Kevin Baker

Kevin Baker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2026, after a battle with brain cancer.

Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1956, Kevin was the son of Roland and Rosemary Baker. Kevin grew up in the Schuylkill neighborhood of south Philadelphia, across the river from the Palestra where he spent most of his childhood watching the 76ers and University of Penn play basketball.

Kevin went to St. Patrick’s grade school and graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 1974.  He went on to Pierce Junior College where he obtained his associate’s degree in accounting.

Kevin started working at the age of fourteen in a variety of roles but is primarily known for his dedication to the bar and restaurant business.

Kevin shared a loving marriage with his wife, Barbara Roberts (nee Pfeffer). Together, they built their home in Wilmington, DE and had a life filled with enduring love, laughter, music, sports, and shared values.

Known for his gentle strength, kindness, and generosity, Kevin made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved sports, whether it be basketball, baseball, or football, and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends discussing the aftermath of the game. To those that had the opportunity to listen and debate, Kevin brought warmth and wisdom to every moment.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Barbara; their four sons: Kevin Baker (Jenn) of Wilmington, DE, Jason Roberts (Julie) of San Diego, CA, Daniel Roberts (Jessica) of Middletown, DE, and Kevin Roberts (Jessica) of Clayton, DE; and nine grandchildren: Owen, Dominic, Lacey, Brielle, Lily, Aiden, Breanna, Caleb and Jaicey. He is also survived by his siblings Cindy McCullough, Craig Baker (Lori), Bryant Baker (Susan), Linda Kane (Charles), Judi Coyne (Jeff), as well as a large extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Roland and Rosemary (nee McLaughlin) Baker.
