Frances Pellegrino, lovingly known to her family as “Nanna Fran,” passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Fran spent many years in New Jersey, where she built a life centered around the people she loved most. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, John, and a loving mother to their son, John. She dedicated her life to caring for her home and family.
After the passing of her husband, Fran moved to Wilmington, Delaware, to live with her son and grandchildren. Family was always at the center of her world, and being surrounded by the people she loved brought her the greatest joy.
Nanna Fran knew how to enjoy life and had no shortage of favorite things. She loved playing bingo, trying her luck at the casino, going out to eat, and getting her hair done. You could almost always count on her nails being perfectly painted, and anyone who knew her knew just how much she loved the color purple.
But more than any of those things, Fran loved being together. A full house, a meal shared with family, people talking and laughing around her, those were the moments that made her happiest. She found joy in simply having the people she loved nearby.
Fran is survived by her beloved son, John, and his fiancée, Karen; her three grandchildren, Ellie, Patrick, and Tucker; and her great-granddaughter, Hope. The love she had for them was at the heart of everything she did.
Nanna Fran’s memory will live on through her son and grandchildren, who will continue to tell her stories, laugh over the memories they made together, and repeat the unforgettable sayings that were uniquely hers. She may no longer be sitting in her spot in the Granby house kitchen, but she will always be right there in the stories, laughter, and memories they continue to share.
