Ron passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital, surrounded by his family. Raised in rural Indiana, he was captain of the football team, class valedictorian, altar boy, and basketball coach. He married his high school sweetheart, Judith Kelley, and together they began their family while Ron put himself through a prestigious engineering school.
Immediately upon graduation, DuPont recruited him, beginning an illustrious and fast‑growing 35‑year career that took him and his family across the country and ultimately to London, where he served as Managing Director of DuPont UK. After retiring, he settled in Delaware, enjoying gardening and swimming at his Greenville home while continuing his consulting work.
Ron was an extraordinary chef, known for hosting elegant dinner parties, wonderful poolside barbecues, and holiday meals steeped in tradition. He was the foundation of a close‑knit family, always making time for those he loved and offering steady inspiration. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, with whom he spent every free moment.
Ron is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judith Sullivan; his children Susan Davis (David), Stephen Sullivan, and Scott Sullivan; and by the grandchildren who knew him as the best “BePa” and father figure, Stephen Scrimer (Cayla), Ashley Decker (Jimmy), and Cassidy Compton (River). He will be greatly missed by his great‑grandchildren Madison Scout Decker, James Harrison Decker IV, Shepard Vincent Decker, John Cooper Scrimer, Greyson Matarese, and Ivy Compton.
Services and burial will be private.
