Carol Luzak

Carol Luzak, age 88, of Riddle Village in Media, PA (formerly of Claymont, DE), passed away on June 28, 2026.  Born in Ridley Park, PA, she was the daughter of the late Doris Mendenhall Mansley Porteous, and the late John Mansley.

Carol graduated from Glen-Nor High School in 1955, and for many years was very active in their reunion planning.

Prior to her move to Riddle Village in 2024, Carol was active in many activities with Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE.  You could always find her at the Holiday Bazaar selling her Yummy Buddies or her handmade greeting cards.

Carol was a direct descendant of Dinah & Isaac Mendenhall, who were conductors of the Underground Railroad, working alongside Harriet Tubman.  She was most proud of being instrumental in researching & submitting information to the state of PA, and fundraising for, an historical marker for Dinah & Isaac that has been installed on Route 52 at the intersection of Hillendale Road in Kennett Township, PA.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, John Luzak.  She is survived by her children, Debra Luzak, Allen Luzak (Sherree), Pam Foster (John).  She was Grandmom to Lara Parisi (Rich), Luke Peterson (Kaitlin), Jennifer Hopkins (Edward), Nicholas Luzak (Nicole), Corrine Abrams (Nick), Rachel Hahn (Richie) & Jack Foster, and Gigi to Hazel & Max, Hannah & Nathan, E.J., Joshua, & Zachary, Anders, Kaylee, Jensen, & Jordan, and Colter.  She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Mansley White.

Funeral Services

A service will be held on Saturday, August 15, at 11:00am, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Road, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, and in memory of her husband, John, a former Marine, donations in her name may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation at Gary Sinise Foundation
