Ann Marie Finch

Ann Marie Stefanowicz Finch died peacefully on April 15, 2026, at Stonegates Retirement Community, Greenville, DE.

Ann Marie was born in 1933 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Anthony P. and Genevieve Stefanowicz. She grew up in Roxborough, PA and graduated from Raven Hill Catholic Academy for Girls. She worked for her father’s mortgage company and attended the University of Pennsylvania where she met and fell in love with Joseph S. Finch, whom she married in April 1953.

The newlyweds moved to Fort Benning, GA, where Joe served in the Korean War and Anne Marie worked on base. At the end of the War, they moved back to the Philadelphia area where Ann Marie returned to her studies and graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania.

Some years later they moved to Delaware where Joe began his multiple decades of work for DuPont. They met many wonderful friends over the years and called Delaware their home.

Ann Marie was a member of the DuPont Country Club, and Wilmington Country Club where she golfed, played wicked games of bridge and enjoyed being with their community of friends.

A devout Catholic all her life, Ann Marie was a long-time faithful member of Saint Joseph’s on the Brandywine Church in Greenville, DE, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and a faith formation leader for the RCIA program.

Ann Marie was an avid bridge player who became a Grand Master in the American Contract Bridge League and won many tournaments all over the country, but also enjoyed playing “…less stressful,” games with good friends here at Stonegates.

She and Joe enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends and had many great stories to tell about their adventures.

Although they did not have any children of their own, they were very involved in helping educate young people, so they could thrive and graduate from high school and beyond. They truly changed the young lives of many.

Ann Marie and Joe were married for 72 wonderful years. She was predeceased in death by her parents and husband Joe and is survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
