Edvins Z. Krams

Edvins Zanis Krams, age 95, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Monday May 3, 2021 at Forwood Manor Long Term Care facility. Formerly a resident of Council Trail in Wilmington, Edvins and his late wife Maiga were residents of Wilmington since 1950.

Edvins was born in Annenieki, Latvia, where he lived until the Soviet Russian occupation of Latvia during the Second World War. As a teenager, he fled his homeland in the closing days of that war, and temporarily settled in Germany where he met Maiga, who had also fled Latvia, and whom he married in 1949. Together, they set sail to build a new life in the USA in 1950. Edvins trained to be a mechanic while in Germany, and after working in that capacity ultimately became a technician with the Central Research and Development Department of DuPont’s Experimental Station starting in 1963. He remained with DuPont until his retirement in 1988. Edvins was an avid fisherman, and was an active member of the Latvian-American community for 70 years.

He is survived by family in Latvia and Australia, and a niece Ina Suuberg of Barrington, RI.

Interment will take place on May 30 at the Latvian Memorial Park in Elka Park, NY.
