Laura Pearl Mullins Rote Stevens, passed away April 17, 2021 at Cokesbury Village, Hockessin DE, at age 97 years. Laura was born in 1923, in Lebanon, KY the daughter of Leslie Clelland Mullins and Mary Laura Helm Mullins. Laura was raised by her grandparents Neate Clinton Mullins and Martha White Mullins on their farm in Lebanon, KY.
Following World War II, Laura and her first husband, Robert Rote moved to Wilmington, DE. While getting her degree from Goldy-Beacom College, she was hired by the Du Pont Co. retiring after 27 years as an Executive Secretary
Laura is predeceased by husband’s, Robert Rote and Thomas E. Stevens, Sr. Upon marriage to Tom Stevens, Laura moved to Cokesbury Village in 1981, where she lived for almost 40 years being honored as the longest living resident. Laura was a beautiful and elegant woman who lived her life with grace and kindness. She was a very thoughtful and considerate individual who constantly put others before herself. Quiet, yet strong and steadfast she was a welcome presence in the lives of her family and friends. She was an avid reader and world traveler. Above all, Laura was a loving wife, adoring mother, cherished grandmother, beloved aunt and dear friend to many.
Laura is predeceased by two brother’s, a half-brother and two half-sisters. Surviving, a son, Thomas E. Stevens, Jr. (Ann) a daughter, Carol S, Harding, grandchildren, Thomas Harding (Karen), Mary Amanda Stevens, three great grandson’s Alfred, Robert (Monica) and John Harding and one great-great grandchild. Laura was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
The family expresses most sincere appreciation to the staff of Cokesbury Village who beyond reproach always provided loving professional care. Laura asked that her Memorial Service be private. She requested that any Memorial gifts in her name be sent to the “Benevolence Fund”, c/o Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Rd., Hockessin, DE 19707, or Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W. 13th St., Wilmington, DE.
