Knox Shaw Weymouth, 58, of Hawai’i, passed away on March 1, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply.
Born in 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, Knox grew up in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Upland Country Day School and The Lawrenceville School before going on to the University of Vermont, where he graduated and met his future wife, Dori Ann Weymouth. Knox then completed the Culinary Arts program at the University of Hawai‘i Maui College. Knox and Dori later made a home in Makawao, Maui, where they raised their three beautiful children and lived together for over thirty years.
A natural athlete, Knox brought passion, discipline, and joy to everything he pursued. He was most alive in motion—playing polo, ice hockey, skiing, snowboarding, and surfing. He carried a spirit of adventure and a deep appreciation for life’s experiences, and he had a gift for connection, making friends everywhere he went and bringing people together with his warmth, humor, and kind-hearted, easygoing presence. There was a special sparkle in Knox’s eyes—one that he passed down to his children—paired with a quick sense of humor, often revealed in a knowing smirk before a witty one-liner.
His love for horses, passed down from his father—a jockey and thoroughbred trainer—and his mother, an avid rider, grew into a lifelong dedication that he shared with his wife and proudly passed on to his sons. It culminated in his years as President of the Maui Polo Club, reflecting both his talent and deep passion for the sport and the animals.
Listening to the Grateful Dead and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers also brought him great joy.
In recent years, he was proud to partner with his brother Gene, and cousins Kaili and Jeff Scheer, in opening Restaurant Marlow, a venture that combined his enthusiasm for food, family, and community. Knox deeply missed his little brother, George Tyler Weymouth II (1969–1981), and his father, Eugene Weymouth (1933–2018), who passed before him.
Above all, Knox was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dori Ann Weymouth, and an incredible hands-on father to his three children: Dewitt Hobbs Weymouth, Tyler Scout Weymouth, Knox Ryder Harris Weymouth, and his daughter-in-law, Callie (Toner) Weymouth. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Bond Knox Weymouth and Sly Gerard Weymouth. He loved his mother, brother, and his Aunt Patty more than anything, and treasured every moment spent with them. His love for his family was constant and unwavering, and he took immense pride in the life they built together.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Shaw Weymouth of Monkton, Maryland, and his older brother, Gene Weymouth, and Gene’s partner, Julie Ganz, of Salt Lake City, Utah and Haiku, Hawaii.
He will be deeply missed by his extended Hobbs, Shaw, Jones, Lickle, Harris and Dworkin families— and a lifelong community of friends.
Knox will always be remembered for his strength, adventurous spirit, sense of humor, and the way he showed up fully for the people he loved. No one who crossed his path went untouched by his kindness and the depth of his love. Every morning, Knox would send a message to his most beloved friends and family, telling them he loved them and to “HBDE”—“Have the Best Day Ever.” He lived by this saying, striving to make each day as joyous, meaningful, and memorable as possible.
We are heartbroken beyond what words can hold, and we know our grief will stretch as far as the love he gave so freely. But above all, we are deeply grateful—to have been loved by him, to have called him ours as a husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. His love knew no bounds, and neither will the legacy he leaves behind in all of us.
