William Squires

Willam Squires 75, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.  Willam was the son of the late William and Rita Squires born in 1950. He was one of seven siblings. Bill was very handy around the house and could fix many things. And he also had a green thumb, enjoying many varieties of house plants he had. Bill graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s College to pursue his of career as an Accountant.

Bill loved sports and his favorite sport was lacrosse, which he played from middle school all the way through college. After college he played Club Lacrosse to later become a referee for DE high school boy’s lacrosse, which he did for many years. He loved watching all sports, especially being a huge fan of Notre Dame football. And growing up in New York he became a big Yankees fan. Bill also loved cooking at all the BBQ’s where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife Loren, son Michael Squires (Allie), daughter Cara Reynolds (Mike), son Kevin Squires (Megan), daughter Brianna Anderson (Matt), and stepdaughter Misty Ingram (Jay). Bill was a proud grandfather to Alexis, Parke, John, Justin, Nathan, Jimmy, Will, Penelope, Ellie, and Zoe. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Funeral Services

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 11:30 AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike Hockessin, Delaware 19707. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 PM.

    Bill was a great man and a good friend. He was my mentor in the early days of officiating. He and Lori would join me for "tailgating" while reffing Summer league games at George Read MS in New Castle. I'm sure he will be missed; but I'm also sure that his family has a lot of fond memories.
