Patricia A. Hough

Patricia Anne Hough, 79, of Hockessin, Delaware passed away peacefully on Thursday January 8, 2026. She was born in 1946 in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania to William Patton and Florence Long, and was the oldest of three children. Pat was a graduate of Springfield High School (Class of ’64) and Ursinus College (Class of ’68). Upon graduation, Pat began working for DuPont as a Systems Analyst, which is where she met her husband, Frank, and many life-long friends. After starting at DuPont, Pat and Frank soon joined the Dupont Country Club, where they were members for over 50 years. Pat was an avid tennis player and golfer and made many great friends through these activities.

Growing up, she spent her summers at the Jersey Shore. When she wasn’t working a shift at the Acme, she was either sailing in her Sailfish – steering and handling the sail all on her own – or swimming in the water. She continued to visit the shore throughout her life and in recent years she enjoyed jumping the waves and going on the rides at the Ocean City boardwalk with her granddaughter Lilly.

She was full of energy, always on the go and ready for the next adventure. She frequently went to New York City with friends to see shows and was especially happy when they starred Hugh Jackman. She also loved music and attended many concerts and festivals to listen to her favorite artists. It was through music that she met many wonderful friends. Pat also traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Her favorite trips included an Alaskan cruise and trips to Italy and Greece with her daughter and close friends. In addition, Pat vacationed every summer at Twin Lake Village in New Hampshire for more than 50 years. She was joined by her family and a group of friends that seemed to grow every year. TLV vacations were filled with tennis matches, jumps in the lake, sailing, golf, margarita parties, rocking on the porch, and endless laughs.

Pat is survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank; their daughter, Laura (Joe), of Wilmington, Delaware; her brother Will (Debbie), of Bakersfield, Vermont; her brother, Steve (Janet), of Wilmington, Delaware; as well as several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She is also survived by her only granddaughter, Lillian, who was her pride and joy.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00-11:00am, followed by a memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life from 11:00am-12:00pm at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to Faithful Friends Animal Society: https://faithfulfriends.us/donate/
