William J. Bareford of Glen Mills, PA passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Paoli Hospital. William was born in Plainfield, New Jersey to Harold and Harriet Bareford in 1940. He graduated from Cornell University in 1963 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Following graduation, William honorably served his country in the United States Army. He served as B Battery Commander of the 2nd Target Acquisition 26th Artillery Regiment of the XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery. He was honorably discharged in August of 1966.
William began working with DuPont shortly after discharging from the military. His career began in 1966 at the DuPont Experimental Station where he oversaw many complex projects and aided in the development of many commercially available products. His career with DuPont took him all over the U.S., with stops in Texas, New York, Tennessee, and Delaware.
Even in retirement William kept working. After retiring from DuPont, he began working with Holman Enterprise, one of the largest privately owned automotive firms in the U.S. He supervised remedying numerous environmental problems – to great success.
William and his family enjoyed traveling together, especially on cruises and many trips to the Ocean City, New Jersey shore.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bareford; daughters Katherine Bareford and Jessica (Andrew) Krawitt; and grandson Jasper Krawitt.
William was a faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Interment will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Columbarium.
