Robert J. Churn

Robert J. Churn, age 85, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of London, England, passed away on August 15, 2018 in the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit at St. Francis Hospital from complications resulting from lung cancer.

Robert was born in London and immigrated to the United States in 1958 with his wife, Martha, who was born in Wales, England. Robert and his wife were both employed at the Winterthur residence of Henry Francis duPont. Following his retirement from Winterthur, Robert became manager of the Wilmington YMCA Men’s Health Club where he remained for many years.

Robert was an avid “bird watcher” and birded in many states. He also enjoyed many years of recreational bowling.

His wife of 40 years, Martha, passed away in 1998. Robert leaves behind his beloved companion, a cat named “Chan.”
