Charles Schuyler Webb

Charles Schuyler Webb, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Yorklyn, DE among his family on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Charlie aka Webby was born in 1940, son of the late William Delano and Katherine Annabelle (Schuyler) Webb.  He spent the first years of his life living in different states with his parents.  William worked as a mechanical engineer for the DuPont Company and was needed at several locations across the country.

They settled in Yorklyn, DE in 1947 and quickly became part of the community.   Charlie was an animal lover.  As a young lad, he had several pets, including ponies, a cow, dogs, cats, chickens and even squirrels which he bottled fed.

He was educated at Yorklyn Elementary and A.I. DuPont High School.  He then joined the Army where he was a proud part of the 82nd and 101st Airborne.   He didn’t seem to realize that they were perfectly good planes, and he jumped several times anyway.

After his service, Charlie came back home and started his family as well as a successful excavating company.  He was very well known in the community and helped several people with excavations and septic services.

Charlie was very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon where he helped many people over years.   He recently celebrated his 52nd year of sobriety and even ran several meetings out of the building attached to his current home, known as The Diner.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Emily M. Adams Webb and his sister, Grace Elizabeth Wascheck.

Charlie is survived by his children; Mary Johnston-Montgomery, Charles Rickey Webb, Tina S. Webb-Scheing, and Deneane Webb-Peirson along with grandchildren Robert Dunlap III, Charles Rickey Webb II, Lindsey R. Webb, William Peirson, Amanda Peirson, Abigail A. Scheing, and Maximilian E. Scheing, seven great- grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

He will be missed by many and loved by all.  Rest in Peace!!!

A Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin DE on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 12- 2pm, followed by a luncheon at Hockessin Memorial Hall.

My prayers and deepest condolences go to the entire Webb family. Your Dad was such a huge part of my life being in real estate for decades. Having replaced hundreds of septic systems in my listings and meeting many buyers prior to closing was one of the many ways he would give of his time. He graciously took me to an AA meeting at the Diner, since never having the chance to experience one. A heart full of love, his loud and boisterous laugh, his story telling, his incredible sense of humor and his genius brain is how I will remember Charlie. You are now united with beautiful Emily. RIP my good man. You were the BEST of the BEST!
