Joseph J. Brower Sr.

Joseph John Brower, Sr. of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Landenberg, PA, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 82.  Joe battled Parkinson’s Disease for several years and was recently diagnosed with double pneumonia. Joe was born in Chester, PA to Harry and Eileen Brower.

Joe attended Eddystone High School. In Joe’s early years, he would work a full-time job and do side work to provide for his family. Joe was a master carpenter and could build or fix anything before Parkinson’s Disease took over his body. He retired from the Carpenter’s Local 626 in 2003.

Joe was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles Fan, loved fishing, hunting, camping, boating, Jack Daniels, and spending time with family and friends. He loved traveling with his wife, Carol, to Alaska, Jamaica, Mexico, Bermuda and many of the United States. His favorite place to visit was Poe Valley, PA, where he vacationed many times with his family. Carol and Joe hoped to get back there one last time, but that wasn’t meant to be.

Joe and Carol had a beach place at Gulls Way for 25 years, where they had many friends and so much fun fishing, crabbing, and boating.

Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol;  son Joseph Jr. (Judy) of Oxford, PA; daughter Theresa Miller (Richard) of North East, MD; daughter Bonnie Madonna of Millsboro, DE; son Jason Brower (Angie) of Newark, DE; son Josh Brower (Katie) of Newark, DE; brother Barry Brower (Sharon) of Homeville, PA; brother-in-law Fred Gentry of Harbeson, DE; brother-in-law Robert Gentry (Debbie) of Wilmington, DE; sister-in-law Dorothy Donovan (Jim) of Wilmington, DE; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several cousins; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters Joanne Stefanide and Nancy Llewellyn; best friends Connie and Jerry Bagrosky; and just recently, his son-in-law Dave Madonna, whom he thought the world of.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Joe’s memory be made to Sean’s House, 136 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 or Just Us Cats P.O.  Box 32, Rehoboth Beach,  DE 19971

A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Chandler Funeral Home in Hockessin, DE. A service will follow at 11:00am.

Joe my buddy, you sure gave me many of laughs. Some days I didn’t know where we were but I went along with you. You were one of a kind. I come through them doors in the morning and there is no Joe for me to put my cold drink on your neck and to hear you say Jesus Chris. I truly miss you already. Everyone here at Cadia does as well. Parkinson’s took so much away from you but now you are back to your old self and can do whatever. I will try my best to behave so I can see you up in heaven. I love you buddy 🥰. Tell the gang up there we miss them all. Mary Anne.
