Francis Anthony (Tony) Vogelsberg

Francis Anthony (Tony) Vogelsberg died at the age of 92 on September 6, 2025. Born in Faribault, MN, Tony graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1956 with a Chemical Engineering degree and immediately began a long and fulfilling career with DuPont where he worked for over four decades. Upon retiring from DuPont in 1996 and drawing upon his expertise relating to the environmental impact of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Tony spent the next 12 years consulting with the World Bank to assist with the closure and monitoring of facilities producing ozone depleting substances.

Tony was an intrepid traveler (visiting over 90 countries), an avid golfer and took up diving in his fifties, making over 550 dives in 32 countries. He developed a love for woodworking as a child and made much of the furniture in his own home.

Tony reveled in spending time with his large family and is survived by his six children, Michael Anthony Vogelsberg, Mary Lynn Crowder, Cheryl Ann Watson, Bruce Stewart Vogelsberg, Sarah Vogelsberg Masback and Rachel Maria Vogelsberg, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Tony was always a pleasure to spend time with. I enjoyed many rounds of golf with him. He always had an interesting story to tell you about his career, travel, or his days working for his father construction company.

I am offering a condolence for Tony: He was a good friend for years from 1968 until 2025. We played golf, we ate out as couples, we played trivia and other games as a group, Tony always enjoyed the group. At times, we were in different places and different jobs but always kept in touch; in fact I saw Tony inWilmington this spring and summer of 2025. Rest in Peace! Sorry I could not make the service. Bless you all, Michael, Mary Lynn, Sherrill, Bruce, Sarah, and Rachel. John Coleman 3535 Kirby Pkwy, Apt M115, Memphis, TN 38115.
