Gertrude T. Hood

Gertrude T. Hood, age 95, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on February 16 2018 at the Country House.

She was born in Minneapolis, MN to the late Christ and Hattie Hanson Trygestad. Gertrude was a graduate of Atwater High School, Minnesota School of Business and the University of Minnesota. She held various secretarial and bookkeeping positions for a retired civil engineer, the research director for ADM, the Blue and Gold Club, several restaurants and a temp for DuPont.

Gertrude was also active in Naaman’s Little League, several garden clubs, Cecil County League of Women Voters, and Friends of the Library. She was in the original Wilmington Meals on Wheels start up committee as a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she held various positions. While a member of First Presbyterian Church in Newark she was a trustee and also the church treasurer and on the board of the United Campus Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horace E. Hood, and grandchild Jamie Hood. Survived by her sons James (Barbara), Chris (Kristine), Robert (Ana), and John, grandchildren Alexander, Andrew, and Christopher.

A private memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W. 13th St., Wilmington, DE 19806
