Janet E. Brownhill, 95, of Delaware, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025. Born in Buffalo, NY, Janet earned one of the first MBAs awarded to a woman from Columbia University. Her career included roles at DuPont—where she helped introduce Nylon—as well as International Playtex and Strawbridge & Clothier.
Known for her fun-loving spirit and favorite sayings, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do” and “I’m just ginger peachy”, Janet loved playing bridge, lunches with friends, and was an active member of Ascension Episcopal Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Brownhill. She is survived by her niece Georgia Mushow (George), nephew Thomas Serviss (Joyce), great-nephew’s and great-niece’s Michael Mushow, Jonathan Serviss, Wendy Werner and Laura Tate.
Her family extends special thanks to the staff of Kentmere Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
Services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to Kentmere Nursing Home or a charity of choice.
