Richard J. Scukas

Richard Joseph Scukas, age 89, died at home in Maris Grove, Glen Mills PA on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Richard was born 1928 in Frankfort, New York, to Vincenta and Napoleon Scukas, he graduated from Union College and served in the Navy, first as a Flying Midshipman and later in the Reserves as a Naval Aviator, attaining the rank of Commander.

After leaving active duty, he moved to New York City where he met and married Georgia Holderer in July 1961. They eventually settled in Wilmington DE, where he worked for DuPont, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed woodworking, travelling and visiting with friends and relatives.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Georgia, and children Anne, John, Paul (Jeannette), Craig (Phuong) and 4 grandchildren James, Camille, Katie and Andrew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. A viewing will be held in the church 1 hour prior beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the mass at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine Cemetery.

Funeral Services
