Lynda Stellenberg nee Miller, 77, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love , on May 18.

Born in 1948, in Philadelphia, Lynda spent her childhood there before building a beautiful life rooted in love, education, and community. She was married to her devoted husband, Jay, for 55 years- a true partnership that served as the foundation for a close-knit and cherished family.

Lynda earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University and later completed her master’s degree at Wilmington College. A passionate and dedicated kindergarten teacher, she spent over 30 years in the classroom, nurturing young minds and mentoring fellow educators. Family was Lynda’s greatest joy. She treasured vacations with her children and grandchildren, creating memories filled with love and laughter. In her free time, she enjoyed spirited games of canasta and mahjong with friends in Banyan Springs, always quick with a smile and a story. Lynda also had a special love for butterflies, a symbol of beauty and transformation that reflected her spirit.

I had the pleasure of teaching with Lynda for nine years at Maclary elementary school. Because of her flexible, kind, and cooperative nature, our classroom ran very smoothly. Even though she was regular ed and I special ed, we easily conducted a program where both of us worked with all the children. It was because of her even disposition and caring ways that we were so successful. I missed her friendship when we retired. A more delightful partner, one could never find! Love and condolences to Jay and all her family.

Lynda will be profoundly missed. It was my great pleasure to have known her and acquired her as a sister; I only wish it could have been for a longer time. I will always remember that first trip where Shelly brought me to introduce me to "the family". Lynda was clearly the beloved matriarch, and I was a little nervous about winning her over. Thankfully she "approved" and I came to truly appreciate her unique relationship with Shelly as both her elder "protector" and her teasing sister. I am thankful for the trips and other happy occasions I was able to spend with her and the rest of the Stellenberg, Cipolla, and Beck families. All my love and sympathy during this sad time.
