Richard Hamilton Dull

Richard Hamilton Dull, age 90, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Thursday May 8, 2025 at Sunrise Assisted Living.

Richard was born in 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Marshall and Aline Hamilton Dull. He graduated from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School in Wilmington in 1953. He worked for the Department of Public Safety Police Department and was director of the Department of Communications for the Mayor’s Office in Wilmington. He was with the City of Wilmington for 26 years.

After Richard left the City of Wilmington, he restored, bought and sold antique clocks. He enjoyed gardening and his many cats that he had throughout his lifetime. He was a direct descendant of President Alexander Hamilton.

He loved trains, working on his antique clocks, eating at Kozy Corner and Mrs. Robino’s. He did a lot of walking because he never owned a car. He was a 65 year resident of Wawaset Park, Wilmington, DE.

He is survived by his cousin, Kim and Judy Stone and their daughter, Kim Hamilton Cook and her husband Remy Cook, all of Fishersville, VA. His very close friends in Wilmington, DE took care of him.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Dr., Fishersville, VA 22939.
