Polly D. Tindle

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Polly Dake Tindle. She passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2025, with her beloved pugs, Cuddles and Washington, by her side.

Born in 1949, at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Polly was sister of Nancy Swayne and Robert Tindle. Her life was dedicated to service, teaching and kindness- always guiding, always giving. Polly wore many hats throughout her life. She once coached girls’ hockey at a school in Maryland and traveled the skies as a flight attendant for Capital Air. However, it was the hospitality industry that was her true passion. She worked at several of the Wilmington-area hotels, including the esteemed Hotel DuPont. Polly was known for her sharp mind, generous heart, easy going spirit and infectious sense of fun. She loved her friends. She loved her animals. She loved the simple joys of life.

Polly was predeceased by her loving partner Robert Iantosca. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Swayne, and brother, Robert Tindle, as well as two stepdaughters, Julie Reid (Jason), Amy Minckler (John), five grandchildren: Robert, Ian, Bradley, Clayton, Ryleigh. She also leaves behind dear friends, Pat and Tina, Apple, Wilfredo and many others whose lives she enriched.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to honor Polly’s memory with a donation to Faithful Friends, a cause close to her heart. https://faithfulfriends.us/donate/donate-in-memory-honor/

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful person. Polly was truly one of a kind. Always bringing laughter and light in the room with her incredible sense of humor. Her generosity knew no bounds, always giving selflessly to others without expecting anything in return. She had an extraordinary ability to listen and understand making you feel valued and heard. A great friend in every sense. My deepest condolences to all who loved her.

It was the absolute pleasure of our lives to have spent time with Polly. She was a firecracker of fun. She made us laugh and see the best in life. Polly and Fiona shared a special bond and that was her legacy for us. A true friend of ours, and a friend to everyone she met. We miss her terribly.

    Janet A Facciolo writes,
Polly was a dear, dear friend who worried about me. We kept each other in prayer. We looked forward to exchangeing gifts and treating each other for lunch. For Christmas 2024, Polly sent me a beautiful Christmas bouquet! She was kind, thoughtful, encouraging and always made me feel that everything was going to be ok. Polly encouraged my art and took over over arranging my artwork when I had it displayed for my birthday at the art museum. Her decorations for the event were outstanding!! We sent each other GIFS every morning and night. I still sent them to her when she couldn't do it anymore. She wrote me a beautiful letter in March. I will cherish that letter. I loved my friend, Polly so much and will always kerp her in my heart.
