Lawrence Van Deusen, 76, of Landenberg, PA passed away at his home on Friday, September 29, 2017. Born in Warren Township, NJ he was a longtime resident of Hockessin, DE. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and New York University (MBA). He was employed for 25 years with ICI Americas, and later SAP.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the FAA Flying Club – Chapter 240 and an active member of the Harrogate community.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Mary Weldon Van Deusen, brother Richard Van Deusen (Carol), sister Patricia Gallagher and his 3 children, Laura Van Deusen (Bob Von Achen), Gregg Van Deusen (Jennifer Zahorchak), Leslie Sierra (Tito Sierra). Pops, as he was known to his 5 beloved grandchildren, instilled in them his inquisitive spirit. He loved to take classes on art, culture, and history at the University of Delaware Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to The Needy Family Fund, c/o The News Journal, 950 W. Basin Road, New Castle, DE 19720. A celebration of life is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. October 28, 2017 at Harrogate Clubhouse, Swan Road, Landenberg, PA.
