Patricia B. Jones

Patricia B. Jones passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023 in the Christiana Hospital Hospice with her husband Tom by her side.

Pat was born in New Brighton, PA to Doris V. Brower and Fred I. Brower.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas N. Jones III, her son Thomas N. Jones IV and her brother John C. Brower.

She lived in State College, Pa. and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1971, then worked as a secretary in the Dept. of Mining at Penn State.  She met Tom at Penn State and married him in the Eisenhower Chapel there in 1973.   They moved to Richmond, VA in 1974 when Tom joined DuPont.  They next moved to Rochester, NY for 20 years, then to Newark, DE in 1995 while Tom worked as a chemist for various business units.  While in Rochester, Pat volunteered at the Susan B. Anthony House for several years until her son was born.

In 2001, at Pat’s urging (“If you say you want to do it, get up off your butt and do it!”) Tom became a volunteer at Tri-State Bird Rescue. Shortly afterward Pat became involved with Tri-State’s Yard Sale which was held each year in the fall.  Though she never handled a bird, she spent countless hours in the summer over the next two decades (!) with Ellie and others in the Yard Sale Trailer receiving, pricing and packing items for the sale.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Pat’s name to Tri-State Bird Rescue, 170 Possum Hollow Road, Newark, DE 19711 or on-line at TRISTATEBIRD.ORG.

Funeral Services

Services for her burial will be private.

Condolences

    Gail Heath writes,
Dear Tom, I am so sorry for your loss of Pat. It was just a few weeks ago you popped in to TriState for a few minutes and said she was doing well. I’m grateful I got to meet her through setting up and helping with the collectibles tables for last few years of the yard sale. As you work through your loss and path forward in life, I hope you’ll come back to volunteering at TriState when you feel ready. I know how good it was for my soul after losing my husband to cancer. It’s healing being around good people doing worthwhile work. Again my deepest sympathies, Gail Heath

Tom, I'm sending you warm thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this difficult time. Pat and my sister shared a room for one night and I was the lady who spoke to you in the hospital when you were waiting for a hospice room to open up for Pat. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved wife. May your memories of so many years bring your hearts comfort and may she rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. My sincere condolences,

Tom, So very sorry to read of the passing of your loving wife and dedicated TriState volunteer, Pat. We worked together through many events but there was never a question of which one of us worked harder. She was very special bird! My thoughts are with you. Gail Schrenk, TSBR volunteer
